Alibi Zhangeldin was born in 1884 in a poor peasant family in Kaidaul village of Torgai field. He came from the Kipchak clan of the middle face. There were eight children in the family: three boys and five girls. As Alibi was the first child, from an early age he helped his father tend the rich man's sheep. The rich used to leave their cattle to graze in the fertile Kaidaul land. In addition to raising cattle, the father often went hunting and took his son with him. Alibi was very interested in shooting quail and geese. In addition, he also hunted white antelopes and white-tailed deer, which are often found in the Kaidaul region. He has been riding since he was seven years old.

Alibi was eager for education from a young age, but there was no school in the village, so he had no opportunity to study. One day, a teacher from Torgai came to Kaidaul, and his clothes and behavior made a strong impression on young Alibi and awakened his dream of becoming a teacher. The same teacher noticed his intelligence and invited him to school. However, his father does not like this proposal and opposes it. Nevertheless, Alibi escapes from his home, follows the caravan, reaches Torgai and enters school. He gets to know the teachers and students, and establishes a special friendship with an exiled labor teacher. It was in this school that he met the future hero Amangeldi Imanov for the first time. Soon his father finds him and brings him home.

When he was at home, seeing the injustices in the Kazakh steppe, Alibi ran away from home again, this time going to Kostanay. Here he entered the Russian-Kazakh school, mastered all subjects in one year and graduated with honors. Later, he entered the spiritual consistory in Orinbor, and from there he transferred to the teachers' seminary in Kazan. As a graduate student, he was admitted to the Faculty of History of the Academy in Moscow. However, in 1905, he was expelled in the 2nd year for participating in the revolutionary movement.

At that time, Alibi had a desire to learn about the way of life of other peoples, and in 1910-1912 he traveled on foot to Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia under the false name "Nikolai Stepnov". In his memoirs, he said: "The trip around the world lasted more than four years. I traveled twelve thousand kilometers on foot with my camera, not counting the sea and railway journeys. During the day, I took pictures of the places I went, and at night I took them out with chemicals. I gave lectures, made reports, sold paintings and earned my living. On foot I crossed Poland, Austria-Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Syria, Palestine, Africa, Egypt, Abyssinia. On my way back, I traveled through the Arabian Peninsula, Mesopotamia, Persia, India, Ceylon, the Malay Archipelago, Indochina, Siam, Annam, southern China, and the island of Formosa. I reached Japan in 1912.

In 1911, in Geneva, V.I. Met with Lenin. In 1913, he returned to Kazakhstan and began to carry out revolutionary propaganda. He was exiled by the tsar's government to the Crimea, and later moved to Petrograd. In 1916, he came to Torgai and together with Amangeldi Imanov led the national liberation uprising. In 1917, he organized a struggle against the Provisional Government and propagated Bolshevik ideas among the people.

In November of the same year, the Council of People's Commissars of the RKFSR appointed him as the emergency war commissar of Torgai region. He will be the chairman of the First Torgai Oblast Congress of Soviets. In May 1918, he was appointed as the emergency commissar of the Dala region, and is recognized among the people as an influential organizer, propagandist, military leader and political figure. In the same year V.I. Directly instructed by Lenin, he leads the detachment that delivered money and weapons to the Aktobe front through Astrakhan. It makes a great contribution to the organization of the Red Army units and the strengthening of the Soviet government.

From July 1919 to October 1920, he was the deputy chairman of the War-Revolutionary Committee for the Management of the Kyrgyz-Kazakh Territory. Since October 1920, he has served as the Deputy Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Kazakh SSR and the People's Commissar of Insurance. In 1938 he became a member of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Kazakh SSR, and in 1951 he became its deputy chairman. Since 1920, he has been a member of the Kyrgyz (Kazakh) regional committee of the RK(b)P and the Kazakh AKSR, and in 1938 he was elected as a deputy of the Supreme Council of the Kazakh SSR. In 1924, he was a delegate of the 13th Congress of the RK(b)P.

The awarded orders are the Order of Lenin and the Order of the Red Banner.

One district of Torgay region, several collectives, streets in the cities of Aktobe, Astana and Almaty are named after him. A monument was erected for him in the city of Aktobe.

Alibi Zhangeldin is a great political figure who fought for the freedom of the Kazakh people, an educator and a historical figure deeply embedded in the people's memory.
